探花直播Bishop of Ely will walk 17 miles from Ely to Cambridge this week to acknowledge the lasting relationship between the Diocese of Ely and the 探花直播, both of which celebrate significant anniversaries this year.
探花直播Bishop of Ely will walk 17 miles from Ely to Cambridge this week to acknowledge the lasting relationship between the Diocese of Ely and the 探花直播, both of which celebrate significant anniversaries this year.
As well as being the 800th anniversary of the 探花直播 of Cambridge, 2009 marks the 900th anniversary of the Diocese, which covers the county of Cambridgeshire and a portion of Norfolk. 探花直播seat of the Bishop, Dr Anthony Russell, is located at Ely Cathedral.
探花直播Bishop and his fellow walkers will cover the distance on Sunday, September 27th. 探花直播route will follow the Fen Rivers Way along the east side of the Great Ouse and Cam Rivers from Ely to Clayhithe Bridge, just outside Cambridge.
Dr Russell will be joined by the Bishop and Archdeacon of Huntingdon, as well as students and staff from 探花直播 of Cambridge Officer Training Corps, which will also be providing water stops along the route.
探花直播 探花直播鈥檚 Vice-Chancellor, Alison Richard, will meet up with the Bishop at Chesterton for the final leg of the walk. All 探花直播 and College boat clubs will be flying their flags as the procession makes its way along Midsummer Common to the finishing point on Jesus Green.
Following the walk, a reception will take place at the 探花直播鈥檚 oldest college, Peterhouse, which was founded by Hugo de Balsham, Bishop of Ely in 1284.
探花直播party will set out from Ely after a short service at the Cathedral, starting at 9.15am. It is expected to arrive at Jesus Green at approximately 4.30pm.
